I interpret and explore the world from a Kashmiri vantage point, and imprint
my discoveries and observations through visuals and words. I publish my work
here and on Instagram.
Professionally, I have been working at Sifer Design as a product designer and
design director since 2016. I have contributed to projects spanning brand communication,
physical and digital user experience, spatial design, and systems design.
My friends and I run a regional community of creatives named kér house (kéri
makān in Kashmiri). Founded in 2020, kér house digitally resides in a tight-knit
Kashmiri-only Discord server. We organize in-person events occasionally.
In the past, I ran an online merchandise shop focused on Kashmir-themed apparel
and artwork, known primarily as the IK Store (Ingenious Koshur Store). It started
as an MVP, and the results were surprisingly positive. Unexpectedly, the store
became a catalyst for new Kashmir-themed merchandise stores, such as Gyawun Shop
and Koshurwear—a phenomenon I had hardly imagined. Some of my designs ended up
being replicated, which I viewed at the time as a form of flattery rather than
a concern. The store is currently on hold, a pause extended by the 2019 lockdown
in Kashmir and the subsequent COVID-19 pandemic. However, I may have plans for
a relaunch in the near future.
The content produced or published on this website (asimhamid.com) and my Instagram
handles (@ingeniouskoshur, @asim.svg) or elsewhere represents my independent
work. Sifer Design, its partners, and collaborators have no association with
my independent projects.
This website uses Depository, a design system I made for personal use. It is
developed primarily on Astro, a bit of Vue and lots of Tailwind. Runs on
Cloudflare Pages.
